We’ve collaborated with nonprofit CollegeSpring to provide our students with further opportunities and resources for college preparation. CollegeSpring mentors support Green Dot juniors at several campuses with additional SAT test preparation, the college application process, and how to navigate financial aid.
To kick off the 2017-18 school year with CollegeSpring, former NBA players Jason and Jarron Collins visited the campuses of Ánimo Watts College Preparatory Academy and Alain LeRoy Locke College Preparatory Academy. The brothers toured the schools and spoke to students about the importance of education and hard work.
“I’ll say the same thing I say to everyone who is starting something new, sometimes it won’t come easy to you. But if you continue to work hard, and put in the time and effort, you will improve,” said Jason.
At Green Dot, we believe a college education is vital for the long-term success of our students. We also believe that partnerships with like-minded organizations provide the crucial boost our students need to feel confident about accessing college. Thanks to our partnership with CollegeSpring and the inspiration of the Collins brothers, juniors at both Ánimo Watts and Locke have started their school year with a little pep in their college step.
