Ánimo Florence-Firestone Recognized in 2023 California Schools to Watch
The Department of Education in partnership with the California League of Educators recognized Ánimo Florence-Firestone Charter Middle School as a California School to Watch, an award exclusive for California middle schools. This year, Ánimo Florence-Firestone, is among 36 new schools in California to receive the Schools to Watch designation for the first time this year, with a total of 77 California middle-grades schools.
The steps to retain its designation included a self-evaluation assessment completed by all school staff members, and a feedback survey completed by both parents and students.Once the California League of Educators assessed the assessment and surveys, the organization conducted a validation visit to give ÁnimoFlorence-Firestone further feedback to support students.
“It is a really good recognition of the hard work that our students, parents, and teachers do every day,” said Josh Hartford, Principal of Ánimo Florence-Firestone. “People don’t always see the hard work that goes on every day at Ánimo Florence-Firestone, but it is very nice to be recognized by other middle schools.”
This recognition highlights Ánimo Florence-Firestone’s innovative practices, mission fulfillment, and commitment to whole child support and professional development.
The recognition comes with great pride, reinforcing Ánimo Florence-Firestone’s commitment to providing quality education to all students. Our school leaders and educators at Green Dot California are committed to learning, growing, and striving for excellence.
