8 Green Dot Public School High Schools Named Among the Nation’s Best
I’m extremely excited to share with you that for the second straight year, eight Green Dot Public School high schools have been named among the nation’s best by US News & World Report.
Topping our list is Ánimo Leadership Charter High School, which continues to be recognized as one of the nation’s finest high schools. It placed in the top 1% in the nation and statewide. Its national ranking was 168 out of nearly 20,000 schools evaluated, 53rd nationally among charters and 19th in California, of about 2,400 schools.
Joining Ánimo Leadership are seven more of our outstanding schools: Ánimo Inglewood, Ánimo Pat Brown, Ánimo Ralph Bunche, Ánimo South Los Angeles, Ánimo Venice and Oscar De La Hoya Ánimo Charter High Schools. All are ranked among the nation’s top 10% best schools and were honored for a second straight year. Ánimo Watts College Preparatory Academy was named to the list for the first time.
These rankings, above all else, demonstrate that when you set high standards for students, they will reach higher and exceed your expectations. The students, families and communities that Green Dot serves want and deserve real opportunities to succeed in college and beyond. All of the teachers and staff at Green Dot are committed to providing those opportunities for our students, and it is gratifying for us all to see this measure of our collective success.
U.S. News determines its rankings through three levels of evaluation: whether a school’s students are performing better than their peers; whether its least-advantaged students are outperforming similar students in their state; and whether it is meeting or beating a benchmark graduation rate of at least 68%. This year, it evaluated nearly 20,000 high schools.
Our success begins with our hard working teachers, who are using innovative practices in the classroom to provide our students with an outstanding education. These rankings are further proof that we are succeeding in our mission to help transform public education so all students graduate prepared for college, leadership, and life.
I’m extremely thankful for our tremendous and dedicated team here at Green Dot. Thank you for your continued support of the work we do to change the odds for the students and families we serve.
Sincerely,
Cristina de Jesus
