ACPA Celebrated and Supported on The Ellen Show
Green Dot is pleased to share that one of our Los Angeles school principals was featured on The Ellen Degeneres Show. Ms. Jasmia Fowler is the principal at Ánimo College Prep Academy and was celebrated alongside her students by Ellen Degeneres in a broadcast program that averages 4.2 million viewers per episode nationwide.
Ms. Fowler began her career as a special education teacher and holds an M.Ed in School Leadership from Harvard University. She joined Green Dot team last year, after serving as an educator in her hometown of Chicago, and as a Principal Resident in a Boston Public Schools. She is a beloved and popular figure on campus and was surprised by several of her students who had also been invited onto The Ellen Show to support and celebrate her achievements. The group was then awarded a $50,000 check to go towards the school’s athletic program, courtesy of Amazon.
The funds will go towards providing students with updated equipment, uniforms and shoes for all Ámino Prep sports programs, including football, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, track and basketball. Amazon will also donate new sports equipment to the program. You can view a short clip of the video that features Ms. Fowler and her students on The Ellen Show’s YouTube page, where it had already amassed over 22,000 views within three hours.
This is not the first time The Ellen Show has recognized deserving educators who are putting their students first, and we certainly hope it won’t be the last. Please join share your gratitude with Ellen Degeneres and her team for continuing to identify and celebrating inspiring teachers and administrators who are committed to ensuring that each child has an opportunity to succeed.
