March 24, 2021 (LOS ANGELES, CA) — 13 Green Dot California students were awarded the Dell Scholarship. Now in its 18th year, the program funded by the Susan & Michael Dell Foundation awards 500 students annually with $20,000 (throughout college), a Dell laptop, textbook credits, and access to mentorship opportunities and additional resources.

March 18, 2021 (Los Angeles, CA) — Green Dot Public Schools California hosted their third annual Legacy Conference, a day of programming about how educators and staff can evolve practices to better support African American students. This year’s theme focuses on how to strengthen the unique cultural assets of Black students.

Tutor.com, one of the world’s largest online tutoring services, today announced that Green Dot Public Schools, one of the largest charter school networks in the U.S., has selected Tutor.com to provide online tutoring services for the network’s 11,038 students in grades 6–12 across all 19 of its California charter schools.

In response to the confirmation of Miguel Cardona to be United States Secretary of Education, Chad Soleo, CEO of Green Dot Public Schools National, laid out key policy priorities in a letter to the Secretary. Green Dot has a history of raising crucial issues of concern to the students and communities we serve to federal policymakers as a part of our mission. The full text of the letter follows:

— Green Dot Public Schools California partners with Keck Medicine of University of Southern California (USC) to secure and distribute Covid-19 vaccinations to all Green Dot teachers and staff. The partnership was driven by a shared goal to provide equal access to Covid-19 vaccinations. Educators are part of Tier 1B and are also eligible to receive the vaccine at sites across the county.

Green Dot California will open 8 of their 19 schools for in-person instruction on March 1, 2021, and 2 more will open on March 8, 2021 in service of high-need students who have been most impacted by the pandemic.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Across the city, the 2020 graduates at high schools in the Green Dot network achieved an impressive 76% College-Ready (A-G) cohort graduation rate.
