Green Dot Public Schools California Partners With Keck Medicine of USC to Distribute Covid-19 Vaccines to All Staff
Vaccinations for teachers and staff began March 1st

March 2, 2021 (LOS ANGELES, CA) --
Green Dot Public Schools California partners with Keck Medicine of University of Southern California (USC) to secure and distribute Covid-19 vaccinations to all Green Dot teachers and staff. The partnership was driven by a shared goal to provide equal access to Covid-19 vaccinations across the county. Educators are part of Tier 1B and are also eligible to receive the vaccine at sites across the city.

“This partnership will allow us to reopen schools, heal communities, and improve vaccine accessibility,” says Dr. Cristina de Jesus, CEO and President of Green Dot Public Schools California. “Together, we can help thousands of at-risk families feel safe again.”

Green Dot teachers and staff will have the opportunity to sign up directly with Keck Medicine of USC, a hospital within the community Green Dot serves. Teachers will be prioritized for afternoon and Friday vaccination slots so that instruction time is minimally disrupted due to potential side effects. Finally, Covid-19 vaccinations are not mandated and are not a prerequisite to reopening Green Dot’s 19 schools in Los Angeles.

“Ensuring equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine is our number one priority at USC," says Felipe Osorno (executive administrator, continuum of care operations and value improvement, Keck Medicine of USC). "We are delighted to support Green Dot Public Schools.”

Green Dot is continuing to explore additional partnerships in order to provide equal access to Covid-19 vaccines in the South and East Los Angeles communities we serve.

“Thinking about how to get our community vaccinated has been top of mind for us,” says Animo Pat Brown teacher Joel Snyder who helped facilitate the partnership. “The sooner we can all safely return to school, the better.”
