King Middle Partners With Green Dot Public Schools

Green Dot Public Schools announced partnership with Beaumont Independent School District to improve outcomes at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School

Beaumont, TEXAS -- Green Dot Public Schools partners with Beaumont Independent School District in Southeast Texas to improve Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School. In May 2020, the district put out a ‘Call for Quality Schools’ and selected Green Dot to support King Middle and its educational program beginning in the 2020-21 academic year. Green Dot will aim to quickly grow academic proficiency and improve the school’s accountability rating. There will be a seamless transition and students will remain enrolled in the school and district. Community engagement and transition teams are in place and eager to work with families and other district stakeholders.

“We are pleased to partner with Green Dot as we work to improve Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School,” stated Dr. Shannon Allen, Superintendent Beaumont ISD. “We took the time to identify a high-quality partner who we felt would embody the goals and expectations that we have for our students. We feel confident they will work collaboratively with the district, our families, and the community to increase student achievement and therefore meet the needs of our students and families.”

“We are pleased to have ratified our partnership with Beaumont Independent School District and begin our work together to transform student achievement” says CEO of Green Dot Public Schools, Chad Soleo. “We are very excited to join the Texas public education system and confident in the team leading this effort.” Cliff Claflin, formerly the Head of Schools of KIPP Texas Public Schools, will serve as Executive Director of Green Dot Texas.
