Green Dot Public Schools California To Continue Distance Learning Until Mid-March 2021

This applies to all 19 schools in the network and ~14,000 students

December 16, 2020, LOS ANGELES, CA -- In response to the rise of Covid-19 cases in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) guidance, Green Dot Public Schools California has announced two changes effective immediately across the network of 19 schools in South and East Los Angeles:

  • Distance Learning will continue through March 12, 2021, unless conditions permit otherwise
  • In-person assessments for students with disabilities are paused until January; schools are in touch directly with families to reschedule existing assessments as needed

Additional case managers have been hired to support students facing challenges with Distance Learning. This individualized attention has led to an overall decline in chronic absenteeism and an ADA of over 92% across the network. Green Dot Public Schools California has also secured CoVerify Health as a partner to provide “surveillance testing” each week and protocols begin this week so that school-sites are prepared for the eventual return of students.

All schools will close for winter break on December 18, 2020 and reopen on January 4, 2021. During this break, food and technology distribution, as well as enrollment and other services, will pause. 100% of Green Dot students are equipped with laptops and wifi hotspots needed to access Distance Learning.
