Ánimo Watts College Preparatory Academy prioritizes academics by offering a rigorous curriculum that includes a wide array of AP courses, such as Biology, English Language, Literature, Government, Precalculus, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, US History, World History, and 2-D Art and Design. Additionally, our commitment to academic excellence extends to dual enrollment opportunities with L.A. Southwest College, where students can earn certificates in fields like Small Business Entrepreneurship, Information Technology Essentials, and Sociology, enhancing their post-secondary readiness and career planning skills.
College counseling
Ánimo Watts offers a college-going campus experience with robust offerings. We provide targeted academic counseling, including college success advisors and participation in the UCLA EAOP program, complemented by social-emotional support from clinical therapists and the college counseling team.
Sports & Clubs
Although our focus is on setting high expectations for academic performance, we understand the importance of balance and engagement in positive, character-building activities that help connect students to their school. Ánimo Watts and Ánimo Compton are teammates across a variety of sports, including girls’ and boys’ volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, and track and field. Together, they showcase a diverse range of athletic talents and team spirit across multiple disciplines.
STEM
Ánimo Watts provides a STEM-focused curriculum for students, leveraging partnerships with organizations like pltw.org to integrate Project Lead The Way’s innovative STEM programs into their educational offerings.
