Explore Our Approach At Ánimo Ellen Ochoa
STEM FORWARD
At Ánimo Ellen Ochoa Charter Middle School, our students have access to many unique educational opportunities. Young scholars can explore STEM pathways in Environmental Science, Coding, Robotics, Medical Detectives, Flight & Space, and Green Space Architecture through Project Lead the Way, or expand their knowledge outside of the classroom on STEM field trips.
Early College Program
Students can take college classes and earn college credit through our partnership with East L.A. College. Courses are offered on our campus during the regular school day and we invite students and families to join us on college tours.
Counseling
We provide mental health and socioemotional support for all students with the assistance of full-time school counselors and school psychologists on-site. All of our services are free to students and provided on our campus.

We are excited to offer a unique variety of clubs through our exclusive Expanded Learning program — at no cost to our families.
athletics
Join the Astros! Sports at Ánimo Ellen Ochoa include soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball, and dance, encouraging teamwork and an active lifestyle. We invite every student to be a part of a team.
Students participating in basketball and soccer have the opportunity to compete against local schools.
Community
We view our parents and guardians as equal partners in providing children with meaningful educational experiences. In 2023, we were honored to become a California Community Schools Grant Winner, allowing us to connect families to partners and programs that support their needs.
Our annual community events include a Dia De Los Muertos Celebration, High School Fair, AEO STEM Competition, and Voces Unidas Exhibition.
