Green Dot Public Schools Tennessee Updates 9/12
GDPST Updates Septmber 12, 2021
Where Did The Time Go? It is amazing how quickly time flies when you’re making memories and creating academic opportunities students will never forget. This time last year, we were huddled at home, working through the newness of distance learning. This year, we have officially been in the school building for a month getting back into the groove of classroom life. Though we are eager to see friends and teachers again, we can not forget the lessons we learned from the pandemic that is still raging in our communities:- It’s more important now than ever to wear your masks.
- Practice social distancing, whether 3 feet or 6 feet.
- GET VACCINATED. We have been receiving vaccines for years and they have shown to be highly effective; this is no different.
It’s not too late! Dr. Lyons with ShotRx is coming to a Green Dot Public Schools Campus near you. Click on the logo below to schedule your vaccine at the school nearest you! Anyone ages 12 yrs and up is eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. If you have questions, email Jocquell.rodgers@greendot.org for more information. Updated Grading Policy
On September 2, 2021 the GDPST Board of Directors voted to approve changes to the Grading Policy for all GDPST schools. The purpose of the GDPST grading policy is to ensure that student grades are calculated in a consistent way across all campuses. Additionally, it seeks to establish a uniform makeup policy across classrooms and campuses.

drive.google.com ESSER Survey: Addressing Learning Gaps
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an undeniably difficult situation for many in our GDPST community and in our city over the past 15 months. As we return to in-person instruction for the 2021-2022 school year, we know we have made a great deal of progress, using protocols that we know will continue preparing our students for college, leadership and life. We also know that many of our students will require a significant amount of attention to address academic learning loss, social-emotional needs, and safety as they re-engage in the traditional school setting.
GDPST has an opportunity to apply for federal funding that is being made available through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) program. ESSER funding will address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on students. This funding will last for three years, and it is intended to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools. ESSER funding must be used to address deficits that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.
We would like to ask you to complete a short survey as district stakeholders. Your responses will help us to finalize the major areas of need for which we will use “ESSER III” funding in GDPST. You can complete the survey here or by clicking the graphic above.
In order to give all GDPST parents, guardians and community members ample time to share their thoughts, we have extended the survey and will be accepting responses through Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:59 PM.
We thank you for your feedback and support!
