King Middle School Selects New Principal

Marian Williams will lead the school, coming from Memphis where she led middle school transformation in a district partnership.

April 27, 2022 (Beaumont, TX) -- Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas is pleased to announce the selection of Marian Williams to be the school’s new Principal. Ms. Williams most recently served within the Green Dot network as Principal for Kirby Middle School in Memphis, TN. She was selected through a competitive process that included input from the community of stakeholders at King Middle School including teachers, staff, and regional leadership. She will begin her new role with King in June 2022.

Prior to serving as Principal, Ms. Williams was a teacher leader for a high-performing charter school, served in operations and teacher coaching with Teach For America (TFA), & excelled as a school leader with various charter schools at the Middle and High School Levels.  She has been recognized as an award-winning principal (Principal of the Year, 2020) and has taken Kirby Middle School from having performance in the bottom 5% of schools in the state of TN to becoming an award-winning Middle School in the city of Memphis (Spark Awards, 2021), being recognized for dramatic improvements according to various school culture and academic performance metrics.

Green Dot is partnered with the Beaumont Independent School District to improve Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School under state standards. Green Dot currently operates six turnaround schools in Los Angeles and Memphis.
