Jocquell Rodgers Named as Incoming Head of Green Dot Public Schools Tennessee

Jocquell RodgersMEMPHIS – Green Dot Public Schools Tennessee (GDPST) announced today that the Board of Directors has appointed Jocquell Rodgers to serve as Executive Director beginning July 1, 2022. Rodgers is replacing Dr. Megan Quaile, who has led GDPST since 2014. Dr. Quaile will continue supporting Tennessee, while continuing her leadership role as the Chief Growth Officer at Green Dot Public Schools National. Rodgers will be responsible for leadership of the TN region and will also join the Board of Directors.

It’s been a tremendous honor to serve as founding ED at Green Dot here in Memphis” said Dr. Quaile. “We first came to the city to partner with the Fairley High School community, and I’m proud of what educators and students have accomplished.”

“The Board and I are confident that Jocquell is the right person to build on this momentum,” Pam Egwuekwe, chair of the Board for GDPST noted. “She is a seasoned leader and educator with significant experience working with students and families in Memphis, having led our outreach work these last years. We are lucky to have her as our next ED.”

Before her appointment, Rodgers served as Chief External Affairs Officer for GDPST. She has also served as the Director of Community Engagement with Green Dot and as an instructional coach with the organization. Prior to joining Green Dot in 2014, Ms. Rodgers worked with Memphis City Schools and Shelby County Schools as an educator and instructional leader.

“This is an amazing opportunity to build on the academic framework Green Dot has already created in the education space. I am a Memphian who has experienced the highs and lows of education in the city as a student, educator and parent. I live in the Whitehaven area and have taught in each of the communities Green Dot Public Schools TN currently serves.  GDPST has left an indelible footprint in this great city and will continue to impact students, while continuously working to close racial and economic gaps in the public school system” said Rodgers. “Dr. Quaile has been a great leader and mentor throughout my time with Green Dot and I look forward to continuing this work together. I am excited to help chart a course for success for our students, families and employees across the city.”
